Bietigheim-Bissingen, October 25, 2016 – Dürr has added a "specialist" to the tried-and-tested EcoBell3 family: The EcoBell3 Cx proves to be very dynamic and extremely adaptable to different tasks. The atomizer is primarily used for applying water-based paint to plastic parts, but it also comes into its own in combined painting zones for interior and exterior painting. The impressive features of the EcoBell3 Cx are its lower contamination and faster cleaning process, which both increase productivity.
"The EcoBell3 Cx is our response to our customers' wishes. Customers can now clean the atomizer less often and can easily parameterize spray jets of 80 to 400 mm wide", explains Dr. Hans Schumacher, head of Dürr's Application Technology division. "This is a huge advantage for users, as it makes the EcoBell3 Cx versatile and easy to use."
Reaches even smaller spaces
The newly developed atomizer housing with integrated shaping air ring produces spray jets between 80 and 400 mm wide – perfect, for example, for painting bumpers with broad surfaces as well as small details. The EcoBell3 Cx has a smaller electrode ring than its predecessor, the EcoBell3 C. This enables the EcoBell3 Cx to reach even complex geometries and reduces overspray buildup.
As a result, this atomizer can be cleaned in just 15 seconds, i.e. within the cycle time, using the EcoBell Cleaner D2. A more thorough cleaning operation up to the electrode ring is only necessary after two to four hours. This can be performed manually or with the help of the EcoBell Cleaner B. This model cleans the entire atomizer head and requires less time than a human does. Thanks to the combination of these two cleaners, manual cleaning during a production shift may even be dispensed with altogether. This increases the available capacity of the paint shop.
The EcoBell3 Cx is the improved successor of the EcoBell3 C, while the EcoBell3 Ci is the interior painting specialist. What these atomizers of the EcoBell3 family have in common is that they dispense with the complex voltage block for water-based paint application.
The Dürr Group is one of the world’s leading mechanical and plant engineering companies. Dürr products, systems and services provide the basis for highly efficient production processes in different industries. Business with automotive OEMs and components suppliers generates roughly 60% of its sales revenues. Other sectors which Dürr addresses include mechanical engineering, the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and – following the acquisition of the HOMAG Group in October 2014 – the woodworking industry. Dürr has 92 business locations in 28 countries. With just under 15,000 employees, the Group generated sales revenues of € 3.77 billion in 2015. The Group operates in the market via five divisions:
• Paint and Final Assembly Systems: paintshops and final assembly systems for the automotive industry
• Application Technology: robot technologies for the automated application of paint, sealants and adhesives
• Measuring and Process Systems: balancing and cleaning equipment as well as assembly, testing and filling technology
• Clean Technology Systems: exhaust-air purification systems and energy efficiency technology
• Woodworking Machinery and Systems: machinery and equipment for the woodworking industry
Bumpers have both wide and narrow sections that require painting. EcoBell3 Cx with its variable spray jet width is ideally suited to both.
